About the Opera-tunity Outreach Program


For the past 15 years, Alec Doyle has served as executive director of the Colonial Theatre Group, Inc., in Keene, NH. Under his tenure, he has overseen changes in programming and more diversity in the Keene, NH event offerings, as well as unique educational opportunities for residents of all ages. 

The Opera-tunity Outreach Program is a unique, first-of-its-kind program the Colonial Theatre Group offers in partnership with Met Live in HD, aimed at reaching younger audiences and cultivating their interest in opera. The program is open to students ranging from 5th grade to high school, who will get the opportunity to not only see Metropolitan Opera programming live but also have the chance to learn from trained instructors about the intricacies of the art form by way of specially designed curriculum for the project. The theatre is also partnering with nearby Keene State College to offer special performance opportunities through the initiative. APAP’s YPCA Program Supports Young Musicians


As the executive director of Colonial Theatre Group, Inc., in Keene, NH, Alec Doyle oversees operations of the historic non-profit theatre that attracts more than 60,000 people annually.Active in his field, Alec Doyle of Keene, NH, holds membership in professional organizations such as the League of Historic American Theatres and the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP). 

Since its establishment in 1957, APAP has worked to strengthen the field of performing arts through advocacy, networking, and professional development. In addition to free monthly webinars on performing arts topics and trends, APAP operates the Young Performers Career Advancement (YPCA) program to support classical musicians as they establish their careers. For 20 years, YPCA has offered participants the opportunity to engage in specialized seminars at the annual APAP conference, as well as to develop strategies for communicating with managers, engaging with audiences, and creating professional networks. Additionally, the annual YPCA showcase invites members to perform at Carnegie Hall in a show that is free and open to the public.

APAP NYC Explores the Transformative Power of the Arts


A performing arts professional with over 20 years of experience, Alec Doyle serves as the executive director of the Colonial Theatre in Keene, NH. Involved in several organizations that support his work in Keene, NH, Alec Doyle maintains membership in groups such as the Association of Performing Arts Professionals, New England Presenters and the League of Historic American Theatres.

The annual members conference for the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) provides attendees an opportunity to network, experience work by established and emerging artists, and participate in valuable professional development workshops. The 2018 APAP conference will take place January 12-16 at the New York Hilton Midtown, Sheraton New York Times Square and multiple performance venues across the city. The theme for the conference, trans.ACT, will focus on the transformative power of the arts in modern culture. Sessions will revolve around issues related to artistry, accessibility, equity, and support for the industry at large as it evolves and grows. 

More than one thousand showcases serve as a highlight for APAP NYC attendees. These showcases give performing artists of all genres an opportunity to perform in front of a select audience of industry professionals from across the globe.
